After Paris Open

As always it is easier to make an update when you are doing great or at least good at a competition. I did not at all reach the level of fighting I expected myself to do at this competition. I guess a part of the problem is that I have had to little fighttraining because of injuries and illness during the winter. However I have taken som valuable insight with me and changed some of my training. Still I am suffering under an injury, but I hope it will be solved during the spring.

Apart from that I can share the glad news Gülsah suceeded in snatching a silver medal in her weight cathegory. She really did some good fighting and we are all looking forward to see her continue her fight for international medals during the spring!

Karen also did absolutely great as she suceeded to enter the kvarterfinal and there to beat the former Paris Open champion from France quite easily. It was a absolute wonderful fight to watch and I think Karen impressed not only us but a lot of other national team coaches! In the semifinal she lost with the smallest possible margin and sadly she lost the bronze final, too, later on. But considering the hard opponents she had fought and beaten during this competition she should be more than proud of her result!

Furthermore the tested some new rules during the competition. The fact that the tatami-referee had less power was a good thing, but the accepted level of contact was just terrible!

Enough for this time!

Greetings,

Steffi
